What our Occupational Therapists Target at Foundations:

Emotional Regulation

Our emotional regulation program helps children learn coping skills to regulate and respond appropriately to challenges and set backs. We use a variety of techniques to help children develop the skills necessary to thrive and adapt to their environment.

Handwriting

Our therapists use the handwriting without tears program in combination with strengthening and coordination strategies to implement a fun and engaging approach to teach proper letter formation and improve overall handwriting skills.

Executive Functioning

Our occupational therapy program will work with your child to develop strategies to improve planning, organization and memory. Your child will learn new skills to stay organized for school, improve independence with their self-care skills and improve their problem solving skills.

Amplified Musculoskeletal Pain Syndrome (AMPS)/POTS

Our occupational therapists can tailor treatment programs to support children diagnosed with AMPS/POTS using a sensory and holistic approach to managing pain.

Visual Processing

Our occupational therapists will target difficulties with processing, recalling and interpreting visual information. Exercises will focus on the development of coordinated eye movements and improving visual strength. This will help your child with skills such as copying from the board, reading and handwriting.

Find Motor, Coordination and Strength

Our occupational therapists will develop a coordination and strength program to improve your child's ability to participate in motor based occupations. Our occupational therapists will ensure meaningful progress by using measurable data and progress monitoring. The OT may recommend additional home exercise programs outside of the treatment sessions to maximize progress.

ADL and self-care independence

Occupational therapists can support your child in gaining independence in their daily home and leisure activities. This could include organizing their morning routine routine, developing independent dressing skills, basic life skills or even developing independence with leisure activities of interest.

Independent Evaluations

FPT is happy to offer private evaluations and independent educations evaluations as part of a settlement or school referral. We can attend and present our findings in IEP meeting and due process hearings as requested.
